About Queen Afua

Queen Afua is celebrating her 31st year on the Path of Purification & Natural Healing. Queen Afua has grown into a nationally renowned herbalist and Wholistic health specialist. Through her work as a Certified Colon therapist, polarity practitioner, Hatha Yoga and Ari Ankh Ka (Ancient African Yoga / Movements) Instructor, lay midwife and fasting specialist, she has guided thousands of women and men worldwide in the art, science and joy of Natural Living.

Her best seller, Heal Thyself for Health and Longevity, forever changed the way seekers of wellness practice wholistic health. In her latest work, Sacred Woman, she responds to current health crisis facing African-American women, by taking them on a transforming journey of physical, emotional and ancestral healing designed to restore the magnificence of their spirits through Sacred Initiation.

An initiate of the Shrine of Ptah and Chief Khamtic Priestess of purification in the Temple of Nebt-Het (an ancient Afrikan order) in New York City, Queen Afua is the Founder, Director, and Spiritual Guide to the Global Sacred Woman Village Center. She is also, along with her husband, Hru Ankh Ra Semahj, the co-director of the Heal Thyself Living Center, which has operated for over 20 years in Brooklyn, New York.

Her essays and articles have appeared in Essence Magazine, Heart & Soul Magazine, Black Elegance, The Amsterdam News, Caribbean Life, as well as other publications. She has also appeared on numerous television and radio programs including Imhotep Gary Byrd's "Global Black Experience" and Bob Laws' "Night Talk."

Queen Afua lectures extensively, and has been featured at Downstate Hospital and Brooklyn Hospital where she spoke to a staff of doctors and nurses on the power of wholistic medicine. She has also lectured at NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, the St. Paul Community Baptist Church, with the Revered Johnny Youngblood, and at colleges and universities throughout the country. She also has served on Essence's Wholistic Health Practitioner's Think Tank and was featured in the January 2000 issue. Her message, "Liberation Through Purification," has traveled via satellite around the world. Queen Afua has traveled thru the United States, to the Virgin Islands, Canada and Europe to share her message of Heal Thyself for Health and Longevity. She has also toured with African American Woman on Tour from 2000-2002. Queen Afua has received certificates of appreciation and recognition from:

? Maxine Waters, Members of Congress, the 35th District, California in Recognition as a renowned herbalist, natural health and nutrition expert, and in appreciation as author of "Heal Thyself" and "Sacred Woman"

? The Wellness of You 2000 Tree of Life Award from Salaam Enterprises, Inc. and Universal Community Homes

Queen Afua has also been recently placed on the Black Board Bestsellers List and the Essence Magazine Bestsellers List for book Sacred Woman: A Guide To Healing the Feminine Body, Mind and Spirit.

Her HEAL THYSELF natural product line, including Rejuvenation Clay is available at retailers across the country as well as online. She has also produced two instructional videos - Kitchen Power, a guide to hands-on techniques for establishing a Kitchen Healing Laboratory emphasizing food as potent medicine; and Dance of the Womb, which teaches 25 Sacred Movements for creating and maintaining a healthy womb.

Queen Afua's Liberation Thru Purification 21-Day Fasting Program has received global recognition via her national fasting crusades and her celebrity clientele, which includes Stevie Wonder, Iyanla Vanzant, Erykah Badu, Ben Vereen, John Amos, Vanessa Williams and Hazelle Goodman.
